Daewoo Securities launches English stock trade program

Founded in 1970, Daewoo Securities is the largest stock brokerage and investment banking firm by market capitalization in Korea. It is part of the Daewoo Corporation, the second largest Korean conglomerate only behind Hyundai. With over three thousand employees in 124 branches in Korea as well as overseas, Daewoo Securities has a 9% market share of the Korean brokerage market as a full-service brokerage and investment bank. In recent years, Daewoo Securities has begun a rapid expansion of its investment bank offerings to continue their success despite foreign competition.

On August 1, Daewoo Securities launched an English-language stock trade program. A representative from Daewoo Securities said that the program was intended to cater to foreign investors interested in Korean securities. Called "Qway ENG", the software has a "simple, elegant interface" with which foreign investors can handle Korean stock trading, KOSPI200 futures, and options.

"Qway ENG" was apparently based on "Qway NEO", which had seen some success as it received a design award from the government. According to Shin Yoonkeun, Daewoo Securities' head of the multi-channel division, Daewoo Securities will "continue to provide financial investments to foreign residents in Korea, whose number has exceeded 1 million."
